Inspiration-Movies..
I am not a movie fan, though I watch one, now and then. I always doubt, whether a movie resembles the society or society gets inspiration from movies. Because, in a recent attempted heist on a bank, armed robbers tried to follow an old movie plot in which a gang robbed a bank. Though, the movie is an entertainment media, it has great power and potential to inspire the public and society.
Movies are made to make money. Documentaries are of different genre. We can see the impact of movie stars, on freak minds of fans. Imitating the dressing of their favorite actors, their dialogue delivery style etc,. Problem here, young and youth are, I think, in a false impression that their stars are always correct.
While I respect the individuals’ freedom of choice, I am sorry to say that, some fans even go berserk and ruin their life.
Great movies are made to entertain audience. Some click at box office and some flop miserably. But taking the movie as real life inspiration for committing crimes is really bad. Movies resemble reel life, not real life, though sometimes based on real life situations; there will be always some elements of cosmetic changes to the script. Otherwise audience may not come to theatres.
While rationalists claiming that there was no superstitions, devils or Dracula’s, the movie industry always try to cash on those themes. See the surge in superstitious films based on fantasy. Instead of removing the false notions, these movies instill fear and fascination in kids’ minds. No one see flying on broomsticks except in movies.
Let the entertainment be entertainment.
